I first got the idea to make this after watching a YouTube video made by bigclivedotcom. He was performing a demonstration on a new kind of decorative LED bulb that simulated fire. Of course I just had to try my hand at it.
The first very thing I discovered is that an electric lamp that looks like a candle lantern costs an arm, a leg, and half a lung. So, instead I just bought a couple of actual candle lanterns and made lamps out of them. Due to the size of the bulbs, I had to make sure I got something semi-sizable.
Tip 1-A#: Be sure to find old or severely discounted lamps for parts. You can usually find them for a buck or two. Getting kits is like buying a new lamp.
